Greetings Earthlings!!

As you may not see, I am truly excited to launch this project.

To make things easier, let's do this in FAQ style..
(although nothing has been frequently-asked yet)

1. What is Public ArtRoar?

Public ArtRoar is a homage to all things arty, public and free in Singapore. True to the deep-rooted traits of the people - if it ain't free, it ain't Sg.

Kindly note that the choice of works featured in this site is strictly up to the discretion of the webmaster. Healthy debates and discussions are encouraged. Quirky remarks and cheesy one-liners are welcomed too!

2. Art got free, meh?

GOT!!! Let's not restrict art to art students or the "atas" community.

3. What is Public Art?

I have no intention of starting a discussion on this. If you could kindly refer to dictionary.com, a long list of definitions for "art" is provided. Add the free and publicly-available aspect to it and you have public art. However, I would like to limit Public ArtRoar to the following;

(a) the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of
more than ordinary significance.
(b) any field using the skills or techniques of art
(c) the principles or methods governing any craft or branch of learning
(d) an artifice or artful device

From one internet source to another, Wikipedia states this:

"The term public art properly refers to works of art in any media that has been planned and executed with the specific intention of being sited or staged in the public domain, usually outside and accessible to all."

4. Who the hell are you?

I am an interrupting purple cow.

MOOOOO

5. How can I contribute?

You can generously contribute by sending in photographs of any interesting public art found in Singapore to public.art.roar@gmail.com. Please include your name, email address and the exact location and date where the photograph was taken.

However, if you are too lazy to snap a shot, you can also email tip-offs, stating clearly where and when you have seen that particular exciting piece of work. For performance art, please do inform us a week ahead of the actual event for us cows are busy creatures.

Disclaimer:
Public ArtRoar is not in any way encouraging vandalism. We are simply documenting these "works" and providing a channel for discussion. We do however encourage an art-literate, expressive and vibrant society.

We would also like to think of ourselves as a non-profit marketing company; we are creating buzz for local places, lamp posts, companies, etc. If there is any corporate entity who is not willing for their "works" to be displayed on this site, kindly drop us an email stating your dissent. Please bear in mind that this website is indirectly building public relations and word-of-mouth for you or your organisation.

Note:
By submitting your photo(s) to Public ArtRoar, your submission becomes property of the site owner, granting us royalty-free rights to reproduce, distribute, modify and/or publish your submission in any form (online, print, or otherwise) without limitation.
